LANDSBOROUGH OVERPASS REFERENCE COMMITTEE
MISSION STATEMENT

We strive to protect and preserve our unique historic heritage town,
as it is the gateway to the Hinterland, whilst delivering an effective
solution, encompassing all aspects be it social, environmental or
economic, for the required rail overpass at Landsborough.
We all have an equal vested interest and shared responsibility to
achieve a positive mutually accepted solution for our community
and township, whilst providing tourists and travelers with a window
into our past and future.

We want Landsborough to become known as a destination town and
to offer to tourists and travelers to share in our unique history,
hospitality and essential services provided by our business
community.

It is up to us, as a community group, to be heard and to work as a
cohesive team with various authorities, steering committees, and our
community, to achieve a realistic and acceptable outcome for the
community, and support infrastructure of our township.
We need to have the foresight to make this rail overpass an
attraction, rather than an eyesore for Landsborough, so that our
future generations can be proud of, whilst enjoying the inevitable
progress within Landsborough.

THE IDEAL SOLUTION FOR PROPOSED CLOSURE OF RAIL CROSSING

2. Preservation and enhancement of the Landsborough Heritage Precinct.
3. Ample parking provision and access for residents, local businesses and their customers, in a variety of forms: cars, caravans, trucks. Not to be confused with rail and bus commuter parking.
4. Safe ease of access for vehicular traffic, pedestrian and cyclists off and on the preferred proposal and into the heritage, business (commercial and retail) part of Landsborough township on both sides.
5. No by-passing of through traffic away from the town.
6. None or minimal residential / commercial property resumptions.

Landsborough Overpass Reference Committee
Preliminary Statement – All Submissions

Regardless of which proposal is approved and implemented the following criteria needs to be applied universally:

Duplication of the rail may expand the width of current rail corridor.
This will, in turn, force the relocation of:
Morris House, CWA building, playground and public toilets to the proposed Heritage Precinct.

This infrastructure is currently situated on Queensland Rail property.
